This newspaper ad for the event at Eau Gallie says the civic center is “ALWAYS HEATED when necessary” You can bet they didn’t need any added heat that night when Buddy Rogers came to town and burned the roof off!
On This Day: November 22, 1979 – The Battle of The Nature Boys. Nature Boy Buddy Rogers and Nature Boy Ric Flair met one on one in the ring for this Thanksgiving Night showdown at the Scope Coliseum in Norfolk, Virginia. The two Nature Boys would meet on a few occasions during this feud, but on this night The Original Nature Boy Buddy Rogers would have his hand raise in victory after Ric Flair was counted out of the ring.

In an interview for the events program, Buddy Rogers demands a World Heavyweight Title match with Lou Thesz.
“I’m positive this figure-four leglock can take me to the world’s heavyweight championship.” The blond bomber announced “That is, of course if I am successful in getting this bout with Thesz. I want it definitely understood that if and when I beat either Don Eagle or Longson… or BOTH… that should qualify me for a title bout. I have so notified Promoter Muchnick, but he only talks about other guys like Ray Eckert, Bobby Managoff, Joe Tangaro and such. I don’t go along with that idea at all!”

On This Date: November 1, 1979 Nature Boy Buddy Rogers and the Rogers Army (Big John Studd, Ken Patera and Jimmy Snuka) we set to battle with Ric Flair, Blackjack Mulligan, Ricky Steamboat and a Mystery Partner when Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling came to the Scope Coliseum and Norfolk, VA. Due to injury Jay Youngblood would fill in for Steamboat and the big news “Mr Wrestling” Tim Woods returning to action to get his revenge on Rogers and his army.
