On This Date: August 30, 1961 – Nature Boy Buddy Rogers defended the National Wrestling Alliance Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Ray ‘Thunder’ Stern at the Cobo Arena in Detroit Michigan. Also on this card Vern Gagne defend the US Heavyweight championship against Dick the Bruiser.
