On This Day: February 6, 1945 – Dusty Rhodes – Buddy Rogers – Delaware

On This Date:  February 6, 1945 – Here is an interesting piece of wrestling history.  On this card which took place at the Delaware Armory in front of an audience of 1000.  Dusty Rhodes beat Gino Garibaldo by DQ and Buddy Rogers was defeated by Lou Farino.  What makes this so interesting is that Dusty Rhodes (Virgil Runnels) would not even be born until later this same year.   The man billed as Dusty Rhodes this night was none other than Herman Rohde who would go on to be known as Nature Boy Buddy Rogers and become the NWA World Heavyweight Champion.  Meanwhile the Buddy Rogers who lost to Lou Farino this night was actually buddy’s older brother John Rohde.
